LIPSTICK REVIEWS

Kat Von D Piaf Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is represented as a “cool chocolate with purple shimmer.” It’s a expanded red-toned brown with fine violet shimmer. The glitter is what makes it very hard to dupe. It’s a chameleon of a color as the backtone seems to go a lot depending on the natural light; sometimes it looks colderr, sometimes warmer, and sometimes it appears very dark and other times more of a true brown. The balance had some mistake, and it applied without dragging, though the texture has some tackiness to it applied. It didn’t apply the same, and it only had half of the coverage. The lipstick lasted for six hours, slowly drying, and settled into lip lines noticeably after four hours of having it. MAC Chestnut (P, $17.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Kat Von D Damned (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Antique Velvet (P, $17.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Living Legend (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Anita (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, brighter, glossier (85% similar). Bite Beauty Elderberry (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Kat Von D Nayeon Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is presented as a “pitch black with gunmetal shimmer.” It’s a black charcoal  with a light silver and gray glitterr with a neutral cozy undertone (the base pulls a bit brownish on me). The composition of the lipstick has a obvious “powder” from the sparkle, though it isn’t pointed or painful to apply, but you can tell the lipstick is packed full of glittery chunks. It is one of the better-applying black lipsticks I’ve put on, as it didn’t tug on the lips at all, and there was enough creaminess that it covered well without smearing. This colour was mostly dark, lasted for six and a half hours and was just a tiny bit drying. MAC Hautecore (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker, glossier (90% similar). NYX Chambord (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #50 (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker, glossier (85% similar). Kat Von D Slayer (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). NYX Cold Hearted (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar).

Kat Von D Plan 9 Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is  as an “opaque, deep sea foam green.” It’s a a softer, medium-dark jade green with icy undertones and a fine jade green pearl. It had half  dark color outcome with light slip so it didn’t drag on the lips. It could have applied more smoothly, and it may be a colour where a good lip liner or lip pencil may take it all the way. It does smudge the lips very fast, though the color lasted for six hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. NYX Risque (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosplay (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, brighter, more pigmented (85% similar). Colour Pop Bunny (P, $5.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar).
